EMILY MARIE KRAMER
Little Mouse in a Glue Trap,
I’m sorry my fingertips are not
gentle enough to close
your tiny eyelids.
How long you must have suffered.
How your miniature heart must have labored
in your toothpick ribcage.
I am sorry
this world is so unkind to the meek,
that mankind could have happened to you,
and happened, I fear, so slow.
gentle enough to close
your tiny eyelids.
How long you must have suffered.
How your miniature heart must have labored
in your toothpick ribcage.
I am sorry
this world is so unkind to the meek,
that mankind could have happened to you,
and happened, I fear, so slow.
